The blame is shifting, and perhaps a large part of it should.  banks based in the US started a lot of the risky loan products first....  

What's troubling is the open hostility and frank discussions about the US being at fault. 

This could be leading to a nationalistic shift in opinions across the Atlantic which would further complicate the recovery.  Time will tell.?
