Many people find it hard to sit still. They feel that are just wasting their time if they sit for too long. They feel that they don't have enough time in the world and the usual 24 hours a day is somewhat short for them. Many people get to the point in their life wherein they find it hard to relax. They work so hard in their life that they find relaxing so strange. They don't know how to stop and smell the roses anymore and all it takes is a vacation, spa, and spending too much to make them decompress or distress. Our society now has gone from working to live to living to work. People have gone too far - so far that they don't know how to get back anymore from where they used to be. Before, we don't care about anything. We don't have obligations, no work, no bills, and no responsibilities; away from technology, money, food and all, just a pure and simple relaxation.
Knowing the significance of relaxation and knowing how to relax is necessary to ensure good health and over all well-being as well as to restore the passion and joy in you. Your health is your wealth and it is your responsibility. Allowing life's stressors to negatively affect your health will cause you feeling under norm to perform daily activities and may cause you diseases.
Learning to relax is the way to a good life, self respect and balance. Here the steps to relax to hopefully restore your balance in life and eventually making relaxation a part of your daily habits.

  • Identify stress and don't hide your innate discomfort. Some stress gives positive effects. It adds excitement and interest in your life and motivates you in the right way. You are too stressed if you keep on thinking about your work, business, position or career, you experience consistent tension, body aches and soreness all over, you're always short-tempered, irritable and has no focus, you are oversleeping or insomniac, you can't eat well, and when you can't remember anymore when was the last time you relaxed.

  • Prepare to relax is the next step. After recognizing your stressors, let go of guilt. Realize that sleep is a very important part of life and find time to optimize your relaxation time and don't give up until you're rejuvenated.

  • Make the time to actually relax. Make space to insert your meditation to your daily activities and make the time available and take advantage of the benefits.

Relaxing your body

  • Practice breathing exercises. Slow down with your breathing and concentrate.

  • Choose healthy foods. Avoid too much sugar and excessive carbohydrates as these are converted to sugar. They can cause ups and downs and upsets your body's ability to utilize energy. Avoid excessive coffee; eat fruits and vegetables and low-calorie protein foods. They are better source of energy. Take multi vitamins to help relieve stress.

  • Exercise daily. This is scientifically proven and best way of reducing stress. A 30-minute daily exercise is great for your body. Walk anywhere - even on treadmills. Take the stairs, ride a bike and go swimming. Increasing your daily activity and stretching also work wonders.

  • Try some traditional, respected and famous relaxation techniques like yogatai chi, ki or aikido. Inquire the nearest gym or spa for their available relaxation services.

  • Get a massage. Go to the nearest spa for a great massage. Undoing body knots relax the body in a great way.

Relaxing your mind

  • Think positively. You can do this through visualization techniques, using affirmations in changing your outlook in life by stopping yourself in jumping to negative reasons. Step back if you find yourself in many things without going to a specific direction.

  • Use more logic and less emotion. Change your ways especially if it is the causes of your problems. Focus on the positive side of everything.

  • Go to a quiet place if you feel overwhelmed and start pampering yourself. A warm bath, a dim bedroom with soft music, lying on a sofa bed with candles around, a good book, etc. There are many ways to enjoy and relax.

  • Meditate, learn to prioritize things and do activities that you want or are relaxing.
