This is the guy that may very well decide if the euro survives. Andreas Vosskuhle is Germany's Supreme court judge. He weilds an extreme amount of influence. While Angela Merkel holds a lot of power at the bargaining table, he can decide if she's gone too far. Germany is the powerhouse of the Euro. The largest economy of the entire bloc. If Germany doesn't back a bailout of a certain portion of the eurozone, the bailout will not happen. There are rising voices that Germany should leave the euro to protect it's own economic interest. The reason Germany is the major lifter for the crisis is because the ECB doesn't have the same power of taxation that the United States has. We have "Full Faith and Credit", meaning the power of taxation to back up our Treasuries. The ECB has only economic indexes and GDP %'s to measure the strength of the euro.
Time will tell how this pans out.
Currently, Soros is calling for Germany to lead or get out of the way. The euro could very well be doomed if Germany doesn't support every bailout 100%.
Times will be very interesting if the euro falls.
