Bernanke is defending the asset purchases. I believe he is right. The benefits DO outweigh the risks.
Right now, we're battling deflation. Yes, food prices have gone up. Yes, gas is sky rocketing. However, with all the money pumped out there....no rise in unemployment...no real GDP growth.... Think of it this way; the balloon is losing air, and the pump is trying to reflate the balloon....
