Commonsense gun laws

We're constantly hearing the  drumbeat of common sense gun laws. It seems as if gunowners must consistently give up ground every time someone in the liberal spectrum wants them to.   Instead of enforcing current gun laws they insist on creating new ones.  Would they feel the same way if gun owners wanted to continually restrict free speech?
