07-09-2012

Here's hoping everyone had an enjoyable weekend.  Saturday was far too hot, but Sunday was very pleasant.

In Florida, there's a pretty big TB outbreak.  The CDC has told no one about it, and people have been moving around the country.   TB is also known as "consumption" back in the old days.  This is because people would slowly waste away into nothing before dying.   The outbreak is Uncontained at this point.

With the EU slowing, the US slowing, and now China slowing, Dr. Doom's predictions appear to be coming true.   Nouriel Roubini's predictions are sometimes outrageous, but usually spot on.

China's Christmas exports are tumbling.  I'm expecting a miserable back to school season, and the holidays as well.   Deflation....

The economic reports on China are dismal.  If you've been paying attention, this isn't news.  Keeping your face into the wind and staying educated is the best way not to get depressed about the news and the impact on our own economy.

You're going to be seeing a "newer" phrase.   "Inflation Easing".   It's just another word for Deflating.  In China, it's happening.

Ernest Borgnine died over the weekend.  I really liked him on screen and off.  He was such a genuine actor and person.   He led a good life.

Spanish Borrowing costs are now well above they were before they got the first bailout.   This really comes as no surprise.  Bailouts are just that...bailouts.  Nothing means anything if no changes are enacted.  This is like a bad Monty Python meets Romper Room skit.  I wonder how many of you even remember or saw Romper Room?

Keep your face into the wind.   Always.
